Each intricate costume on Netflix 'Bridgerton was bespoke – even for the background actors!


Netflix Bridgerton comes out on December 25th and the trailer of the show already got us excited about the period costumes. You can think of the show as an old time gossip Girl, 19th century love affairs, lavish costumes, and royal rivalries, if you will.

The show is directed by scandal Producer Chris Van Dusen and Grey's Anatomy Showrunner Shonda Rhimes and based on Julia Quinn's eight-book series. The story follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, who makes her debut during Regency London's social season. One of the earlier works of costume designer Ellen Mirojnick The greatest showman and Viciousto name a few, and we recently had a chat with her about the characters' exquisite outfits.

"The first inspiration for costume design came from the text of Chris Van Dusen, creator of the Bridgerton series," said Ellen. “Next, I was visually captured by the work of Genieve Figgis, a visual artist whose exciting palette instantly represented what the world of Bridgerton could be. We devoured research, paintings and drawings of the London reign of 1813. After that, we're closed Disregarded images spanning decades of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The world of Bridgerton was born from this mixture, "she revealed.
