First round draft picks show their new uniform numbers

The NFL draft for 2021 is basically a version of Fashion Week in its own right. In the first round we see all red carpet suits and bespoke jewelry. Then we see the newest players in the NFL in their new uniforms and jersey numbers.
Trevor Lawrence, the former Clemson QB and first choice of the Jacksonville Jaguars, arrived in Duval County for his introductory press conference on Friday and picked up his jersey as well. Lawrence, who wore the number 16 in college, will keep that number in the NFL, trading only Clemson’s orange for the jaguars’ teal.

In the state of North Dakota, Trey Lance wore the number 5. He will also keep his college number as the newest QB for the San Francisco 49ers.

Last week, the NFL approved a rule change that relaxes the jersey number rules and allows more positions to access single-digit jersey numbers. Some rookies have already taken advantage of it.
