Earlier this year, we had heard rumors that Google was planning a new Nest speaker. Given that Google had been slowly transitioning some of its products to the Nest brand, and with the Nest Hub Max, it makes sense that they would have a new Nest speaker that would replace the old Google Home.

For those who are looking for a new smart speaker, then you might be pleased to learn that Google has since officially announced the Nest Audio. What’s interesting about this device is that it seems to be a middle between the old Google Home and Home Max speaker, where according to Google, the Nest Audio will be 75% louder than the Google Home, and will also offer 50% stronger bass.

This means that if you wanted a smart speaker that could also double as a regular speaker with amazing audio quality, this could be it. The Nest Audio will also come with some of the features found on the Nest Mini, such as on-device processing. This means that Google Assistant will work faster given that it won’t need to connect to the cloud to process your requests.

Google is also introducing what they’re calling Media EQ that helps the speaker automatically tune itself to whatever you’re listening to, whether it be music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more. There is also ambient IQ that can adjust the volume based on background noise in your home. The new Nest Audio is priced at $99.99 and will be available for purchase on the 5th of October.
