Masters Schedule 2020: Every day TV protection on ESPN, CBS and on-line streams

Your TV remotes may not know how to prepare for a Masters tournament taking place in November, but on the plus side, they should know how to get to ESPN and CBS.

These are the two channels that the 2020 Masters tournament will take place on November 12-15. ESPN will do coverage on weekdays, while CBS will do coverage from there after college game day on Saturday. It's the usual agreement, only about seven months later than usual, thanks to the rescheduling of COVID-19.

Augusta National Golf Club will be fanless for the tournament, so knowing where to tune your TV (and then leave it on for hours) is more important than ever. Here's how to watch the 2020 Masters.

Master plan 2020

The first three rounds of the Masters will not be broadcast until 1pm. ET. This continues a common standard for early round programs from Augusta without a game of golf played in the morning, although the programs on Thursday and Friday this year begin at 1 p.m. on TV instead of 3 p.m. as in 2019.

As usual, ESPN gets weekday coverage while CBS takes over on weekends.

Masters TV coverage today

Here's the simple rule of thumb for Masters TV viewers: if it's a weekday, turn on ESPN, and if it's a weekend, turn on CBS. If golf isn't on this channel yet, you're probably not doing anything wrong – due to Augusta National rules, the show probably hasn't started yet.

Below we've broken down each of the four days of the tournament into their TV channel and air times.

Thursday November 12th

TV channel: ESPNBroadcast times: 1-5: 30pm ET

Although about five hours of golf had already taken place before the ESPN broadcast goes live, you can see the holes being more evenly spaced during the Thursday and Friday broadcasts. This is because the Masters started off with two discounts for 2020 due to the lower daylight in November compared to April.

Some golfers start on hole # 1 while others start on hole # 10, meaning golfers spend time on the front and back nines until ESPN goes off the air.

Friday November 13th

TV channel: ESPNBroadcast times: 1-5: 30pm ET

This is a day when the Masters is being cut and with a lower cut in 2020 than in previous years, it will be harder than ever for golfers to make the weekend more difficult than ever.

In previous years, a place within 10 strokes guaranteed a place at the weekend. Not so this year to address daylight concerns for the weekend. In 2020 only the top 50 and ties will make the 36-hole cut.

Saturday November 14th

TV channel: CBSBroadcast times: 1-5: 00 p.m. ET

This is a moving day at the Masters. After the tighter cut, it is likely that almost all pattern makers will be at least slightly on the hunt at the beginning of Saturday. It is unlikely to be the case by the end of Saturday. The closer the front runner, the better, considering that the most difficult pin placements of the weekend often take place on Sunday.

Saturday also kicks off the College Game Day, which is broadcast by the Masters on ESPN, before the live coverage for the golf moves to CBS.

Sunday 15th November

TV channel: CBSBroadcast times: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. ET

A green jacket is due for the Masters on Sunday. Tiger Woods is the reigning champion, and he can either put this jacket back on or place it on this year's winner's shoulders.

Sunday at the Masters won't be the same without the fans around Amen Corner and the end of the course, but it will still end in that green jacket.

How to stream the Masters online

Masters.com will stream the entire 2020 Masters tournament, but ESPN + also has streaming options for viewers, including Amen Corner, Featured Groups, and two sets of featured holes (4, 5 and 6, and 15 and 16). Another option is fuboTV, which broadcasts live sports and offers a seven-day free trial.
