NASCAR at Martinsville Results, 2020 Playoff Race Highlights

5:55 pm: Elliott wins in Martinsville! And Harvick is eliminated. Harvick took a desperate step in the end and spun around.

CHECKERED FLAG: Chase Elliott wins in Martinsville and wins his way to Championship 4. Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin BOTH enter with ONE POINT.

Kevin Harvick hardly misses it.

– Davey Segal (@DaveyCenter) November 1, 2020

5:54 pm: Five more laps.

5:53 pm: Keselowski gets a seat on Harvick. Harvick on the verge of elimination.

5:52 pm: Elliott withdraws. He's on the field for more than five seconds and has 10 laps left.

5:51 pm: Hamlin is not happy with Erik Jones.

Hamlin just yelled that someone was going to get inside him. I think it was Jones. Hamlin angry.

– Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) November 1, 2020

5:50 pm: Hamlin, Harvick and Keselowski are separated by three points. Any of them could be eliminated.

5:50 pm: 16 laps left.

5:48 pm: Elliott leads by more than four seconds. A victory and he's there. Harvick is now one point OFF.

5:46 pm: Truex Jr. pits because of his loose wheel. There goes his season.

Truex says it could be the left front, he can't tell which tire it is. "Come to you. We'll be fucked" | #NASCAR

– Kelly Crandall (@KellyCrandall) November 1, 2020

5:46 pm: Alex Bowman has snuck into the top 5.

5:44 pm: Truex Jr. is in trouble.

5:41 pm: LaJoie gets a penalty and Elliott takes the lead shortly thereafter.

5:38 pm: Corey LaJoie is the only rider who stays outside because he has run out of fresh tires anyway. He's taking the lead and his social media team is having fun with it.

17:30: Beware of Byron.

17:30: Tiebreaker belongs to Harvick when he needs it against Keselowski.

#NASCAR … If Harvick and Keselowski were fighting for points, Harvick would win the tiebreaker

Tiebreaker is the best result this round

Harvick's best result of the round is 2nd in Kansas

Keselowski's best result this round is 4th in Kansas

– Dustin Long (@dustinlong) November 1, 2020

5:28 pm: Elliott in third place. 65 laps left.

5:25 pm: Keselowski makes movements. He's only two points behind Harvick now.

5:22 pm: Harvick is now ahead of Keselowski after Keselowski violated the speed limit. That's big because now a Truex Jr. win would eliminate Keselowski, not Harvick.

5:20 pm: Truex Jr. on top!

5:17 pm: Keselowski is punished for accelerating in the pit lane. Elliott's crew fails him.

Chase Elliott had a miserable pit stop and Brad Keselowski was hit for speeding. In the last 100 rounds here in Martinsville, there has been no shortage of impact on the playoffs.

– Matt Mayer (@MatthewMayerCBS) November 1, 2020

5:16 pm: Logano is first off the pit lane.

5:12 pm: Attention. Harvick is the free ticket.

Caution comes out with 102 laps to drive for James Davison's blocked car.

Kevin Harvick, 22nd, will return to the leadership lap. # NASCAR

– Daniel McFadin (@danielmcfadin) November 1, 2020

5:11 pm: Ryan Blaney, who is not a playoff contender, comes first. There are 100 rounds left.

5:06 pm: Harvick is back.

4:56 pm: And now NASCAR is lifting the penalty! The crew member apparently restored his position behind the wall in good time.

4:55 pm: IMPRESSIVE. Elliott backwards for a pit injury. Crew member over the wall too early.

4:54 pm: Elliott loses his lead with a below average pit stop. Logano and Truex Jr. precede him.

4:52 pm: Be careful to go with 150.

4:44 pm: Kurt Busch is fifth. The finish here should be wild.

4:41 pm: Truex Jr. is battling Elliott for the lead but hasn't caught him yet.

4:36 pm: Elliott steps up when it counts.

4:32 pm: Harvick can't take a break. He loses his free pass position after Elliott laps Timmy Hill.

4:30 pm: Elliott is still leading. Harvick is still OFF.

4:22 pm: Hamlin now has to dig an unexpected pit for loose wheel nuts. This race is going off the rails.

Back to green. Hamlin is P29. Harvick is P30. Are you serious?

– Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) November 1, 2020

4:19 pm: Elliott wins the 2nd stage.

After two stages, points while running:

Logano (victory), Elliott (leader), Hamlin, Keselowski in.

Harvick (-19), Bowman, Truex, KuBusch out.

– Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) November 1, 2020

4:09 pm: Elliott returns to first place with 20 laps remaining in Stage 2. He has had a fantastic race so far.

4:05 pm: Hamlin leads.

4 pm: Beware of Corey LaJoie. Kevin Harvick is not the free ticket, which means he will be one lap behind.

3:58 pm: With Elliott in the lead, likely to score points in the stage (with Harvick almost certainly missing the top 10 for Stage 2), it would be likely that Harvick OUT will move into the finals. Crazy.

3:44 pm: As it stands, Harvick is actually on the verge of elimination based on points regardless of who wins. He was 42 points ahead of the cutoff for that race.

With @ KevinHarvick's season, radio # 4 is calm, cool and collected. Harvick responded with "10-4" multiple times when he heard about his scenario and is focused on providing feedback to @ RodneyChilders4 in order to improve the car.

In the free pass spot (P31) now.

– Davey Segal (@DaveyCenter) November 1, 2020

3:43 pm: And now Harvick has to pit with a flat tire. It's two laps lower. Depending on who wins today, they could get into trouble.

Holy crap … Harvick's in serious trouble folks. That's incredible.

– Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) November 1, 2020

3:40 pm: Kevin Harvick is stuck in 24th place.

3:35 pm: Kurt Busch had a brief tour, but Elliott has now taken over.

3:12 pm: Denny Hamlin wins the first stage.

2:53 pm: Elliott takes the lead on restart.

2:45 pm: Attention. Clint Bowyer involved.

. @ ClintBowyer spins after a tire rub. @Aric_Almirola has contacted.

"I didn't freak out because I was relaxed. I freaked out because my damn teammate hit me in the left rear fairing (…) 74 laps in a 500-mile race. That's really nice," he says with a giggle.

– Davey Segal (@DaveyCenter) November 1, 2020

2:36 pm: Elliott is up to second place.

2.30 .: Chase Elliott knows he probably needs a win today.

2:24 pm: Truex Jr. continues to lead 25 laps. There are 130 rounds in phase 1.

2:16 pm: Martin Truex Jr. makes an early pass from Brad Keselowski at the front.

2:15 pm: GREEN FLAG.

2:04 pm: Engines are fired.

NASCAR start time today

The last of three races of the eighth lap is planned for Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. It only takes four days for NASCAR to complete its rescheduled race in Texas. The brief turning point is one of several main stories that are expected to be discussed at length in Martinsville that afternoon.

Most of NASCAR's final playoff races took place around the same time, but some were postponed or postponed due to inclement weather. Rain threatens in the Sunday forecast for Martinsville. The track has lights, which means a night race is in play when the track needs time to dry.

The race lasts 500 laps in three stages and becomes official after 250. The distance of the race is 263 miles.

In desperate need of a win to secure a spot in Championship 4 in Phoenix, Martin Truex Jr. has hit the winning streak in two consecutive games in Martinsville.
