Pickleball is quickly becoming one of the most popular pastime sports in America, and one of the top athletes in that space is none other than Arizona’s local Riley Newman.
Riley spends time preparing for tournaments, but when he is not in tournaments he is reaching out to communities nationwide holding clinics to groups of people wanting to learn more about the quickest growing sport in America.
He won his 5th gold medal this past month in the Las Vegas Pickleball Open. His usual professional partner Tyson McGuffin @tysonmcguffin had to take the tournament off due to family reasons. Riley wanted to still compete in this tournament. As he searched for another teammate there was a new rising star named AJ Koller, who he felt would be a good compliment to the game. They officially met the day of the tournament and only stepped on each others’ feet one time, literally. They came home with the victory.
Riley isn’t done here and has plenty in the tank to continue the growth of his pickleball career at the age of 27. Not many can get in the way of Riley Newman and his famous handed backhand.
