Sennheiser has just sold its consumer goods business

When it comes to audiophile headphones or earphones, there are many to choose from, but not many have the same public profile or recognition as Sennheiser. The company’s audio products are loved by audiophiles as well as regular customers who just want high quality headphones or earphones.

However, fans of the brand should note that Sennheiser has sold its consumer goods business to the Swiss medical audio data company, Sonova. Sennheiser had actually expressed an interest in selling its consumer business earlier this year, and it appears they found a buyer about two to three months later.

What does this mean for the company? In terms of consumer behavior, the deal includes a license to use the Sennheiser brand, which means we can look forward to consumer headphones in the future, but exactly what that means for future products and product lines is unclear.

According to Arnd Kaldowski, CEO of Sonova: “By combining our audiological expertise with Sennheiser’s know-how in sound reproduction, their good reputation and their high-quality products, we can expand our range and include important points of contact with consumers earlier in their hearing create journey. ”
