The style week development that serves up severe intercourse and metropolis vibes

Carrie Bradshaw: “Every year New York women leave the past behind and look forward to the future … This is known as Fashion Week.” Or in that case, it’s London Fashion Week, and the latest trend to adorn the catwalks is tulle tutus! And yes, we have some serious ones Sex and the City Nostalgia.

Whether you’re a fan of the show or at a loss when someone calls you “Miranda”, you will no doubt recognize Carrie’s iconic tulle tutu from the opening credits. According to the show’s costume designer, Patricia Field, the iconic skirt was found in a showroom and would likely have cost only $ 5! It’s a no-brainer that Carrie paved the way for some very cool trends from the ’90s and early 2000s, but like so many of us, she had some questionable style moments. That delicate puffy white skirt was a style triumph, however, and as a result, fashion is an argument for the tulle tutu’s comeback.

Floor-length versions of the tulle skirt were originally shown in Paris at Chanel’s haute couture show in the spring of 2021 in January, where the skirt received a romantic, folkloric makeover by designer Virginie Viard. But it’s the queen of tulle, British designer Molly Goddard and Turkish designer Bora Aksu, as well as Irish designer Simone Rocha, who officially carried the trend over to London Fashion Week in February 2021. Goddard’s latest collection delivered yet another bold, energetic and colorful collection that blended the extravagance of the 80s with cool, contemporary fashion. There was no sign of minimalism during Aksus’ Marie Antoinette-inspired show. Drawing on the elegance and extravagance of the time, Aksu carefully interwoven lace, embroidery and tulle in his revolutionary collection. Rocha, on the other hand, gave the tulle tutu a subtle twist and decided to style it with black leather jackets and chunky biker boots. Rocha revealed a slightly punk side of tulle, proving that even in the most beautiful fabrics, you can still look rebellious.

And just like that, Ms. Bradshaw’s signature look couldn’t have found a better time to make his comeback. With rumors suggesting that the Sex and the City The restart should begin this spring. We only have one question: will Carrie still open the show in that iconic, flirty little skirt? In the meantime, dust off your Manolo Blahniks and check out some of our favorite tutu moments from the last runways of Fashion Week in our slideshow.
