The way forward for playing? Marble races powered by hamsters are coming to Ethereum

After a little more than two years of development, a new form of gambling for the Ethereum world will be published on the mainnet on Sunday: hamster-powered marble races.

The project, called "Mia & the Marbles", is run by Mia, a female Djungarian or a hamster wheel of the "Winter White Dwarf", and her trusted hamster wheel and is an automated platform for marble races and games of chance by a group of independent developers.

While the concept behind the project … may seem bizarre, the M & M development team revealed in an interview with Cointelegraph how carefully the racing platform was thought out.

"We guarantee races that are demonstrably fair, demonstrably lively and easily verifiable," said the developers. “We can guarantee that the races will take place in real time and will not be recorded. We do this with our proven live video stream, which physically shows the first 8 bits of the current Ethereum block hash on the racetrack with 8 movable pins. A high pin stands for a 1, a lower pin for a 0. "

The team states that there is also a refund function for races that do not give a valid result after two days.

While Mia & the Marbles may bring some to life as a thought experiment or a hackathon moon shot, the developers say M&M is inspired by a passion for demonstrably fair gambling.

“We have always loved the idea of blockchain gambling projects. Unfortunately, fraud is not uncommon in the low-regulated crypto space, ”the team said. "So we came up with ideas to make the demonstrable fairness component understandable for everyone and to make it fun at the same time!"

As employees, the developers report that Mia is excellent. In the beginning there was a difficult phase – when she was a puppy, Mia liked to nibble on the developer's fingers – but these days she's always ready to produce. While many protocols regulated by DAOs have to take care of incentive structures and the possibility that another protocol could lure her talent through fusion, Mia happily runs up to 8 kilometers per day on her bike.

"Hamsters are naturally very active and travel long distances at night to forage," explained the development team.

In the future, there will be more developed tracks and possible “championship brackets” for the marbles, and the developers ultimately intend to keep working towards fun, fair games on Ethereum.

“We strongly believe that adding real-world randomness to crypto gambling solutions can dramatically increase player confidence in these products. We want to contribute to a fair world. "
