These are the lip balms that work for us, and they’re all within the drug retailer
A lip balm is a brilliant little product that is always close at hand. I have a collection of at least eight at home, one in my car, two in my purse and a couple in the office. (Since we've been working from home for the past nine months, I can't remember the exact amount on my desk.) To put it simply, I think a lot of people out there have a similar stash of balms lying around. Having one around can remind me to use it all day and before bed to really lock in that moisture.
When looking for a lip balm, the American Academy of Dermatology lists the following ingredients as remedies for chapped lips: castor oil, ceramides, dimethicone, hemp oil, mineral oil, petrolatum, shea butter, sunscreen ingredients like titanium oxide or zinc oxide, and white petroleum jelly. If you want to avoid chapped lips, apply these regularly when they are dry outside or inside.
Fortunately, lip balms are fairly accessible in terms of cost. In fact, you can find so many of our favorites in the drugstore. So if your lips are sending an SOS to the chapped lips department, take a look at our editor tips below.
